Bots
www.goldeneye-mod.net
Bots (AI opponents) are
included in the mod and they are fairly easy to use. However, the
bots are rather dumb and we know this. We are working on it, but
dumb bots do make easy targets...
Adding Bots
To add a bot into the game
you can do it a couple ways:
| 1. First is to manually add
a bot into the game. To do this, type "addbot
<model> <name> <skill>" in the console.
You actually can only type "addbot" and it will
randomly pick the other settings such as the model and name of
the bot. But for the most customization, you can specify
the model, name, and skill variables. The
"model" variable is simply the model name. Valid
choices are 006, 007, boris, connery, cwpscientist, ivan, jaws,
pilot, soldier, and xenia. Don't use any other model
names! The "name" variable is the name of
the bot you are going to add. You can choose any name you
like. The "skill" setting is the skill level of
the bot, and 1-5 are valid choices. 1 is the hardest and 5
is the easiest. So 3 would be medium.
For example, you could type
"addbot boris LamerBob 1". That would add a bot
that has the boris character model appearance and is named
LamerBob and is the most skilled (meaning he will be very
accurate and cheap). A skill of 1 is not recommended since
the bots just have awesome accuracy and is unrealistic and not
fun. |

2. Another
way to add bots is through the bot.cfg file in the root "goldeneye"
folder. Every time a map is loaded, the bot.cfg is read.
So you can put several bots in the bot.cfg, and every map you
play will have those bots join the game without you doing
anything. Please read the bot.cfg file for more
instructions on how to use it. Open the file with a text
program like Notepad or Wordpad.
Even though the
bot.cfg file has enough documentation in it to understand it, I
will go over the basics of the bot.cfg file here. You just
do the same thing as you did before in method 1 of adding bots,
meaning you use the "addbot <model> <name>
<skill>" command. But you type it in the text
file and save the text file. Then it will load when you
start a game. A nice feature is the pause option.
You can set the pause to "60" meaning 60 seconds and
no commands following the "pause 60" will be initiated
until a minute has expired. So you can add "pause
60" right before you add bots in the bot.cfg, and then when
you first get into a map, you have a minute to get oriented and
pick up a gun before the bot(s) enter the game. |
Bot
Commands
The "botdontshoot"
command enables you to have bots in the game that don't fire back.
It is a nice command when you want easy kills. Simply go to the
console and type "botdontshoot 1" to use it. Type "botdontshoot
2" to turn it off so bots fight back again.
